SAATKO INTERNATIONAL
Instrument Care & Protection Guide
At Saatko International, we are committed to delivering high-quality stainless steel instruments designed for precision, durability, and long-term performance. With proper care and handling, our instruments can serve reliably for many years.
General Care Guidelines
- Clean all new instruments before first sterilization.
- Process contaminated instruments as soon as possible.
- Remove stubborn residues using a soft brush—never use steel wool, abrasives, or acid rinses.
- Always keep joints open during cleaning and sterilization.
- Use low-foam, instrument-specific detergents only.
- Maintain detergent pH at 6–8 (never above 8).
- Lubrication is essential for smooth operation and longevity.
- Avoid silicone-based lubricants as they may cause buildup.
- Rinse instruments thoroughly with demineralized or distilled water.
- Ensure complete drying after cleaning to prevent corrosion or stains.
Inspection & Maintenance
Function Check
- Cutting instruments must perform clean, precise cuts.
- Clamps and holders should align and lock correctly.
- Inspect damaged or dropped instruments for cracks, bends, or breakage.
Surface Check
- Examine for stains, discoloration, or irregularities.
- Identify and eliminate causes of staining.
Common Causes of Staining
- Improper or insufficient cleaning
- Mixing different metals
- Water impurities
- Incorrect use of cleaning or disinfecting agents
- Failure to follow sterilization procedures
Storage Guidelines
- Store instruments only after they are completely dry.
- Keep in a clean, dry, and controlled environment.
- Avoid exposure to moisture, chemicals, or temperature fluctuations.
Quick Care Checklist
- Rinse immediately after use
- Clean thoroughly before sterilization
- Keep instruments open during autoclaving
- Avoid piling or entangling
- Lubricate moving parts regularly
- Inspect instruments frequently
Material & Corrosion Protection
Saatko International instruments are manufactured from premium-grade, corrosion-resistant stainless steel, suitable for a wide range of applications including cutting, clamping, and precision handling.
Our instruments undergo a specialized passivation process, forming a protective invisible layer that enhances corrosion resistance. With proper care, this protective layer strengthens over time.
Proper Usage
- Use each instrument only for its intended purpose.
- Misuse (e.g., using nippers to cut wire) can cause damage and reduce lifespan.
Water Quality Recommendations
- Use distilled water for cleaning and sterilization whenever possible.
- Tap water may cause staining due to mineral content.
- Always dry instruments immediately if tap water is used.
- Use neutral pH (~7) cleaning solutions.
Cleaning Methods
Manual Cleaning
- Rinse instruments in warm (not hot) water immediately after use.
- Clean using nylon brushes, especially around joints and serrations.
- Avoid harsh chemicals and corrosive substances.
Ultrasonic Cleaning
- Most efficient cleaning method for thorough results.
Best Practices:
- Pre-clean visible debris before ultrasonic cleaning
- Do not mix dissimilar metals
- Keep instruments open
- Avoid stacking instruments
- Rinse and dry immediately after cleaning
Lubrication & Autoclaving
- Always clean instruments before autoclaving.
- Apply surgical-grade lubricants to moving parts.
- Sterilize in an open/unlocked position.
- Avoid overloading the autoclave chamber.
- Use cloth lining to absorb moisture (neutral pH, residue-free).
- Prevent rapid cooling to avoid condensation and staining.
Cold Sterilization & Disinfection
- Do not immerse instruments longer than 20 minutes.
- Prolonged exposure to chemicals may damage instruments.
- Autoclaving is recommended for effective and gentle sterilization.
- Always rinse and dry instruments after chemical disinfection.
⚠️ Important Caution
- Instruments with Tungsten Carbide inserts (gold handles):
- Avoid disinfectants containing Benzyl Ammonium Chloride
- These chemicals can damage the inserts and reduce performance
Commitment to Quality
At Saatko International, we combine advanced manufacturing processes with strict quality control to ensure every instrument meets professional standards. Proper care and maintenance will not only extend the life of your instruments but also ensure consistent performance and safety.
